Davis is a college town in the fullest sense — UC Davis sets the calendar, the bike is the default vehicle, and the downtown grid of independent cafes, bookshops, and restaurants survives precisely because the town prefers independents.
It is also the most web-literate audience in the region. Davis customers notice slow pages, broken layouts, and inaccessible design — and a meaningful number of them will judge you for it, out loud, in a review.

Downtown independents, campus-adjacent services, nonprofits and co-ops — organizations that often need less selling and more clarity: hours that update, menus that are text instead of a scanned PDF, events that don’t live only on Instagram.
The local note
Davis runs on an academic clock — the customer base partially resets every September. I build sites here to answer the new-arrival questions explicitly, because one-third of the town is asking them fresh each fall. Accessibility isn’t optional in this market; I build to WCAG AA everywhere, and in Davis people actually check.
